The Art Basel festivities are in full swing, drawing hundreds of thousands to Miami Beach looking to experience the contemporary artwork. Now in its 14th edition, the annual event continues to get bigger and better each year, extending its presence beyond the Miami Beach Convention Center to areas like the Wynwood and Midtown neighborhoods in Miami. Events are aplenty, so you may be trying to figure out what galleries, parties, or pop-ups to attend. Here are a pair of suggestions.
Hip-hop fans may want to visit The Breaks Lounge at Scope Miami presented by VH1. The fusion of music, art, and culture is designed to promote the original film The Breaks and it will feature tunes from a playlist put together by rapper and producer Q-Tip. There will also be 90s inspired clothing and original lyrics sheets from former group A Tribe Called Quest, of which Q-Tip was a member. The exhibit is open from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Winter is approaching, but swimwear fans can check out the collections by New York-based designer Harry Pinkerton at the Mondrian South Beach condo from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm or the Bikyni Swimwear Pop-Up, also at the Mondrian from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
